I still don't exactly understand how this combats piracy? Isn't screen recording going to be the biggest concern here for content security. It can be done within 2 hours of a film releasing, causing a loss to movie-makers. Furthermore, one ticket can be bought, and streamed on a TV for multiple viewers at once.
- samdung 5y agoOne of key reasons why people watch a pirated movie is because of non availability of the genuine movie in their country/region. A significant subset of such people would be willing to pay a small fee to watch a high quality (FHD/UHD) version. A combination of DRM and HDCP controls software/hardware based screen recording to an extent. Yes, you can still point your camera at the screen and get a crappy copy. We are taking a very realistic world view here. We can get no where if we focus on the extremities. One ticket - one person is gone. One ticket - one family is the norm.
