Is one disadvantaged in tech without having an engineering background?
- macando 5y agoNo. You can be a VP of Product without an eng background. Learn just enough coding to be able to communicate with devs. Learning UI/UX Design or Project Management would be an easier path.
- dsq 5y agoIf your purpose is to be a software engineer and work for a large company, then lacking a formal degree in comp sci /comp eng/soft eng will always be a weak point you will have to compensate for. You will likely be filtered out before interview. This is less so if you intend to be in management or are interviewing for small startups.
