I see this all the time from some people. "I don't want to be political." <posts pro-gun, pro-police, pro-military stuff> "Why do you keep making things political?" <posts editorial about Afghanistan> "Stop bringing politics into everything!" <posts meme making fun of masks> I think some of these people sincerely don't recognize how political their own views are. They think they're just being patriotic, as though definitions of patriotism aren't political. They think they're just expressing religious beliefs, as though their own religion hasn't had an intensely political role since the day it was founded. To them, "politics" is only about deviating from what they know is Right And True. As long as you agree with them on every political topic, they don't think of it as politics.
