Ask HN: Whose using web based development environments?
I've seen setups like:
* https://github.com/features/codespaces
* https://aws.amazon.com/cloud9/
* https://coder.com/
* https://okteto.com/
and I can't help but wonder whose using these? and what their experiences are like?
Personally, I have a very difficult time seeing how these tools are not extremely frustrating for the developers using them. Still, I keep seeing them pop up and wonder if there's something I'm fundamentally missing?
- ilgazcan 5y agoNot sure about having it as the main driver but for the times when you're away from your setup, like when you quickly adjust something on an iPad or something; They seem useful
- jimmyvalmer 5y agoGoogle's in-house editor, Monaco from Microsoft, Jupyter notebooks, etc. are all browser-embedded text editors. I believe the confusion you're experiencing is the same one felt by manual drivers when the automatic transmission took over.

Are you involved in machine learning or working with data somehow? What do you think about this: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22164916 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22164916 Disclosure: a product in that space and talking with people like you is a blast.
- jimmyvalmer 5y agoAs "blast"-inducing as talking with "people like me" is for you, the effect is equal and opposite for me. Stop spamming HN and r/Machinelearning.

How long have you been a moderator of both? And what do you find spammy on r/Machinelearning on reddit.com, a website initially populated with links by fake accounts created by the founders themselves? Which post, precisely do you consider spam on HN or on Reddit. Please be specific. Links appreciated.
