In the PS3/XBOX 360 days it was Microsoft who were all against cross-platform play whereas Sony was more open to it. In the early days of that console generation, XBOX was arguably more successful than PS. Now PS is more successful. The pattern is that the player ahead doesn't want cross-platform and the one behind does. That makes sense to me.
