I agree with what the EU is doing at a high-level, it doesn't make sense that Apple releases a new adapter so frequently when better open standards exist (USB C vs their proprietary thunderbolt).
It seems short sighted to tie the legislation to any piece of tech that might be iterated upon in the future. Perhaps the legislation should just be use an open standard rather than a proprietary one and stop it there. Android devices will be able to copy Apple chargers and the ecosystem will naturally sync, reducing waste and allowing my Apple friends to borrow my Android charger.
