Filed under "when your only tool is a hammer," which makes for an interesting lemma to Dunning-Kruger.
To expand on that:
First, the moderator culture at WP is exceedingly well known as a massive, toxic, politicized trainwreck.
But even when you isolate what it has been successful at,
it is not clear why the premise could possibly scale to the near-realtime streams of social media; nor how you would possibly get emergent trust amid competing agendas.
Especially when the problem in the first place is that state- and other organized and funded actors, have totally pwned discursive space, and are decades into an arms race around detection of puppetry and other manipulative tools to produce the illusion of consensus and multiplicity.
We live in an era where the gray market of Public Sentiment as a Service is going vertical.
Altruistic partisans, even well intentioned and real ones, are not going to fix that.
