Given this, I think it's normal to expect political manipulation and conspiracies to arise as an alternative to value creation to extract wealth. Remember when Google and Apple agreed not to poach each other's employees? It's irrational to assume that hundreds of thousands of managers just sit around all day doing nothing. It's also irrational to assume that all of these managers are honest, virtuous people. Surely some of them are conspiring with each other across different companies to give themselves an unfair advantage within their respective companies.
