'Nobody knows' origins of six-foot social-distancing recommendation
- listless 5y agoARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? These unforced errors are the exact reason people don’t trust the government and won’t get vaccinated. We’re doing this to ourselves. P.S. - please get vaccinated. I am. My wife and I both got COVID and while she (unvaccinated) got dangerously close to going to the hospital, I recovered almost fully in 36 hours. It works - even if you get sick it works.
- MengerSponge 5y agoMy favorite theory is that it's from plague times: "People allowed to go out must bear with them a cane measuring six feet long. It is mandatory that people keep this distance from one another." via https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20210107-the-432-year-old-manual-on-social-distancing https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20210107-the-432-year-old...

- adminscoffee 5y agonow we're talking, let's get classy canes
- karmakaze 5y agoI recall an adage involving a pole of such a length, or was that 10--may vary by region.
