How soon PCMCIA has been forgotten.
Forgotten by hardware makers, forgotten by users.

- techrat 5y agoExpresscard was supposed to replace it. It's literally a pin for pin pci express slot. But the "market" spoke (more like Apple decided they were too good for useful ports) and laptops got slimmer and less able to be expanded on.
- nikau 5y agoThe cards were too thin - every IT department during that era had a box full of Xircom PCMCIA network cards with missing or broken rj45 dongles.
