When academic studies are dedicated to trivial stuff that is either obvious to an unscientific mind (saying this to calm you down) or would be easily debunked in another study, and worse, from an institution inextricably linked to science, is there any wonder that when they come out and say "masks are safe" many unscientific minds (doubling down to still make you feel good) don't give a hoot? But I guess the days when academic study (time, funds, energies, raw intellect) was spent on more pressing issues are behind us and we'd have to deal with these types of studies going forward. I'm so looking forward to the MIT study that finds that most of HN comments are not read.
