Hey y'all, creator of Torchlight here!
I wrote Torchlight because I was super frustrated using the other two syntax highlighters, because it seemed like each one failed in novel and unique ways. I just wanted a syntax highlighter that was rock solid and I didn't have to worry about.
As I started writing it, I realized that there were other features that I had always wanted in my docs/blog posts that I could build into Torchlight and solve once and for all.
Stuff like
- line numbers
- diff highlighting
- focus lines
- collapsing blocks
- multiple themes on a page
- hyperlinks from within the code block
I think the best part about Torchlight is that you configure everything via _actual code comments_ meaning that you're not adding garbage to your code examples, so they're still 100% valid and can be formatted by your IDE.
It also makes them super portable because all the annotations live _inside_ the block, which lets you write your examples as separate files for better organization.
I'm still working on new clients, a Ruby one is in the works right now but there are a lot I want to tackle.
Let me know what you think!
