Show that you are interested. Talk to people. Ask questions. Give praise when you see cool stuff. Accept praise when it's given. Don't bring your job with you. Be respectful and interactive. Let connections build over time.

- reidjs 5y agoRepeating "don't bring your job with you." It often comes across as status-checking based on income. I feel bad for people who can't think of a better question than "so, what do you do?"
- gilbetron 5y agoI think the "problem" is that then you have to deal with real people rather than the fantasy facades social apps and discussion sites let us create!
