FUD
- jamil7 5y agoYeah. The author is on the board of a climate change skepticism think tank.
- Cryptonic 5y agoBah a thing that should not exist. I really don't know how any human being could work there for any money. The necessity for FUD and disinformation tactics clearly exposes that they have no real facts or arguments. Except maybe some business' and countrie's fear about less dirty fossil money. To the author of the article: get a job in another industry if you want to look your grand-children in the eyes without regret.
- ashtonkem 5y agoPeople joined the SS for money and social advancement too. The phrase “the banality of evil” was coined for people like this; not overly hateful but willing to do evil for the sake of acceptance and money.
- Bostonian 5y agoI posted the article and was not paid to do so. I genuinely think that the costs of getting rid of fossil fuels will outweigh the benefits. A large fraction of American voters, especially in the Republican party, agree with me. No one has tried to rebut the substance of the article.
- ashtonkem 5y agoSigh, oh how far reading comprehension has fallen. I was accusing the author of being evil, not you.
- Bostonian 5y agoI understand that, but someone who is paid to say X may also genuinely believe X and have reasons for that belief. The comments have discounted that possibility.
- Arnt 5y agoI once had a job that I chose because I believed X and the job involved saying X, among other tasks. Mine was not the same X as upthread, but I'm not alone in being able to choose what to work on. The author of that posting seems honest, as far as I can judge it from the text, and I assume he's happy that his job allows him to express his thoughts (instead of filling shelves at a shop or processing forms in an office).
- Cryptonic 5y agoThe world sees a large fraction of American voters as outright crazy, gun wielding, obese, fanatic, dangerous science and common sense deniers in ridiculously large cars with Trump stickers, especially the ones in the republic party, I can tell you that and I know exacly nobody thinking different. It started with the big "weapons of mass destruction" lie that had no political and personal consequences and half the country is on a fast downward spiral since then. It all would be funny to watch, if it were not the US; a country with so much responsibility, because a fraction of it's citizens literally own half of the world and half of the worlds weapons of mass destruction themselves. To be honest I'n not sure which large power I as a german fear most to do a big mistake China, Russia or the U.S. under right wing madness. And about the article... why does the author need to lie to people to make a point that has the potential of destroying our children's economic future and quality of life and killing a lot of people in not so wealthy countries?
