- okareaman 5y agoI think Winston Churchill said it succinctly in his "least worst" construction: “democracy is the worst form of government – except for all the others that have been tried.”

- wiml 5y agoIf you interpret Churchill's quip literally, no: it would mean that any new idea is automatically better.
- nsonha 5y agoI believe he was saying democracy was the best because history showed nothing had been better. What he was implying was that we should favour what worked (over something with no history). I agree with that but it sounds like an useless observation because we are forced to take chances with new ideas whether we like it or not anyway, the world is changing and we can't just do nothing to react.
