Vaccination DOES NOT prevent infection or spreading COVID - it ONLY moderates the infection FOR YOU. You are equally infectious vaccinated or unvaccinated.

    Right, and vaccines also reduce the odds that you will become infected in the first place, which is a big factor in spread.

Apparently Mayor Breed learned the most appropriate lesson from the recall election. But I like her quote regarding the "fun police": > "The message I want to get out is: Support our nightlife venues, support our restaurants, go out and enjoy yourself," she said. "Make sure you are vaccinated because of the requirements, but don't feel as though you have to be micro-managed about mask wearing. We don't need the fun police to come in and tell us what we should or shouldn't be doing. We know what we need to do to protect ourselves."   Impunity? But seriously, I am far removed from the San Francisco news cycle. Has Mayor Breed been overly vocal or cruel to those who have differing views on masking? Does this seem as tone deaf as Newsom dining at the French Laundry?

I usually support anti-covid measures but not enforcing masks in vax-only nightclubs. The pandemic is never going to go away, at the same time people have to hang out and meet each other. Masks and distancing is alright for groceries and administrative stuff, but not for hanging out. Moreover, children, old people, and immunocompromised people shouldn’t be hanging out in crowded bars and clubs anyways. So the population here is all at very low risk for developing serious symptoms and provided they’re not acting reckless in other places, spreading. EDIT: > No: I'm not going to sip and put my mask on, sip and put my mask on, sip and put mask on, eat and put my mask on. While I'm eating and I'm drinking I'm going to keep my mask off. And yes, while we're drinking, like everyone else there, we were all having a good time and again, all vaccinated. This policy doesn’t even make sense.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with going out to a nightclub once in a while. Breed wears masks basically all the time when not actively drinking, and is fully vaccinated (and even got her shot on TV!). People are always going to hate on politicians and public figures, but she's entitled to a night out.

  I think the issue is that Breed was violating her own guidelines, and then offering the remarkably accurate defense that the guidelines that she established as mayor are not reasonable.
