This is an article based on a report by Amdocs[0]. In their report, they mention a few things:
> The importance of well-being. Amdocs has expanded its employee wellbeing program to fit the COVID era, deeply focused on physical and mental health, sense of social belonging, financial care and sense of company purpose.
I worked at Amdocs until the week before lockdowns happened. They offered minimal benefits. They offered three weeks PTO, which included sick time, vacation, and personal days. It was one of my reasons for leaving. Only after 3 or 5 years with the company could you get an additional week of PTO. I had two family members pass within a week of each other, and I had to fight in meetings for a few hours to get permission to use my bereavement leave to help attend and arrange their funerals. That left a sour taste in my mouth.
> Remote work doesn’t slow us down. As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, we managed to completely shift to virtual and remote learning. As a result, and despite the challenges of the pandemic, we ended up with a 12% increase in learning events at Amdocs.
My original company got acquired by Amdocs, and they did not let us continue our annual hackathon, removed our budget for attending and contributing to conferences, and removed our education budget (could be used for buying books, courses, etc). Even if that 12% figure is accurate, I'm sure it's pennies on the dollar compared to the industry average.
I appreciate the effort Amdocs put into this, but if you look at the report, it seems like a set up for a PR move.
