Covid has killed about as many Americans as the 1918-19 flu
- entropicgravity 5y agoSo as a percentage it would be quite a bit lower.
- ThePadawan 5y agoWhat a relief to the affected families.
- mikem170 5y agoLooking at population numbers is different than looking at individual tragedies.
- randyrand 5y agoI don't think the affected families care anything about the 1918 flu either. So maybe that's off topic?
- ThePadawan 5y agoCongratulations, you encapsulated my feelings about parent.
- xyzzy21 5y agoActually no. PCR tests will test positive for: • COVID (maybe) • Common colds caused by Coronavirus • Common colds caused by Adenovirus • Common colds caused by Rhinovirus • Influenze A • Influenza B • "Dead" viral fragments of ANY of the above viruses So the counts of cases and causes of death based on PCR testing are utterly garbage and grossly in numeric error. This is well known by CDC and FDA. Which is why there is an RFP for new testing to replace all current COVID PCR-based testing technology/kits! https://www.cdc.gov/csels/dls/locs/2021/07-21-2021-lab-alert-Changes_CDC_RT-PCR_SARS-CoV-2_Testing_1.html https://www.cdc.gov/csels/dls/locs/2021/07-21-2021-lab-alert... This is also the reason why "flu" and "colds" disappeared in 2020. No we didn't magical cure them - they are entirely miscounted as COVID cases.

They refer to a problem with the original CDC developed test (which also was well publicized at the time) and recommend switching to another test. Your second link provides a list of at least 100 suitable alternatives with accuracy data.
