blogs were the beginning of the death of the internet: content based around a person is basically celebrity culture, and the pressure is on to crank something out regardless of whether the celeb has anything to say. the slashdot/digg/reddit/hn model is better (though as a microcosm of blogging, the slashdot editors were too personality driven as well)
