Russian administration scrambles the election results to make them hard to parse
- sega_sai 5y agoSpecifically, instead of directly providing numbers in html, they do this <span class="wgb_arv">У</span><span class="wgb_arv">Ф</span><span class="wgb_arv">Р</span></b> <br>ж</td> which supposed to be an integer number. Apparently they have more than one way of doing that.
- aritmo 5y agoJust like Facebook does, right?
- RicoElectrico 5y agoWhere do they do that? I mean, the modern frameworks and trackers make front-end code very unreadable, but do they scramble some content?
- mtmail 5y agoTo counter adblockers Facebook puts the text "Sponsored Ad" in multiple span, like each letter in a different one, so it's harder to blocks those posts on the timeline. [edit] screenshots of the span and divs and repeated letters https://webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/125037/is-it-possible-to-block-facebooks-sponsored-ads-using-ublock-now-that-they-sepa https://webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/125037/is-it-pos...
- RicoElectrico 5y agoAh, yes, you're right. I remember having done some temporary workaround, but it ceased to work since then.
- aritmo 5y agoFacebook does this on the post dates as well and elsewhere.
- RicoElectrico 5y agoThankfully the "cipher" is monoalphabetic. Nothing a "grep" couldn't fix. But the very, very bad aftertaste remains. A country run by mobsters that laugh in your face.
