I think it's possible to enjoy these works of art outside of their context. Context is valuable, but I disagree with the author that ignoring it is somehow a problem. If anything, the publication of these photos are probably having a positive impact, introducing some people to bits of history that they weren't previously aware of, and attracting curious travelers who otherwise would never visit. It's good that these monuments are viewed by more people.
