As a european I wouldn't pay twice for american made shoes, while I (and many people) routinely pay a premium for italian and french made shoes. The problem is that made in america is not considered premium for clothes the same way that made in italy or france is.
- BobbyJo 5y agoI was in my #AMERICAn frame of mind writing that comment. I was thinking along the lines of "Not produced by an adversarial country, slave labor, or a country with relaxed environment regulation." It's the reason why so many products advertise 'sustainability' or 'fair trade'. It differentiates the product. I was trying to make the general point that how items are produced does actually matter to consumers, and a large population are willing to pay for moral manufacturing, myself included.
