This seems more about cracking down on "please review our product" gift cards in shipped products than much worse practices. My un-favorite is review hijacking, where someone buys a listing with good reviews and then uses the "product variant" loophole to use it for a completely different product. I have products from Mpow, RAVpower, and TaoTronics that I quite like. Meanwhile, many product categories are dominated by drop-shippers selling generic goods under computer-generated brand names that will never be seen again, either hijacked or full of genuinely fake reviews from people who never even existed (or both). I can only wonder what Amazon's reason is for going after one of the least problematic behaviors on their platform, while leaving the more serious crap untouched.
