everybody here seems to be shitting on these brands for being generic no-name brands created by random letter generators. but Aukey and Ravpower were legitimately decent brands that had built up a reputation and had some value behind their brand name.
whether you liked them or not, knocking them off amazon is a serious punishment that will have a real impact in dissuade other brands from committing review fraud. they also have to account for a serious sales volume on amazon. this isn't a meaningless PR gesture, amazon appears to actually be taking this seriously.
- merrywhether 5y agoI have several Aukey products that I quite like (mostly GaN stuff), and they came shipped in nicely designed packaging to boot (similar to Anker). It’s a bummer for them to get removed as they were one of the few brands I trusted (ravpower too) not to burn down my house amid the mountain of other crap in the Amazon listings similar products. So it feels like consumers get punished because brands are forced into the prisoners dilemma of review fraud when the underlying problem is just crap products clogging up the listings? Neat.
