That's a short coming of your email client (including the webmail), not the email services. The whole point of email is to send to and receive from unknown parties.
- jqpabc123 5y agoThe whole point of email is to send to and receive from unknown parties. Wouldn't it be much better if email would allow me to choose to communicate in a way that I prefer? For example, is there any good reason why I can't just setup a private address where only selected addresses can send to me? In other words, a 100% guaranteed spam filter. I know email doesn't traditionally work this way --- but tradition and spam is no reason as to why it couldn't.
- derekzhouzhen 5y agoOf course you can filter any way you can: https://en.wikipedia.or/wiki/Sieve_(mail_filtering_language) https://en.wikipedia.or/wiki/Sieve_(mail_filtering_language)
- jqpabc123 5y agoSure, you can filter if you know enough to program and run your own email server. Most users can't do this. What I am talking about is an email service provider making this easy for any user --- by simply designating an address as being private. This is an unserved/unmet demand in my opinion.
- derekzhouzhen 5y agoIt you are looking for a point and click sort of thing, I think hey.com let you do this. Doing that feels wrong to me though. It only take a split second to go over an useless email; how much time could you waste by missing an important email? I have zero filtering myself. ~60 junks arrive everyday and the 30 seconds I spent on them don't bother me.
