More Men Live Without Working in America
- jeffrallen 5y agoThis article quotes the price for Bitcoin in "2000". Along with a handful of other obvious errors, it makes me think that the editors at Yahoo News are "men who live in America without working"...
- vmception 5y agoits obviously a typo referring to 2020 it is a strange piece but I'm glad they wrote it, lots of things I had not considered, especially the stats on drug dealing. although I think the women dealers just are not caught or looked at.
- literallyaduck 5y agoJobshaming men isn't very nice.
- vmception 5y agoThis article isn't doing that, but one thing that's been on my mind is the likely even distribution of work desires across genders For example, I think there is a very large percentage of men that would like to be subsidized by a benefactor who doubles as a partner, but the pool of benefactors for men is extremely small and also extremely other men. If it was larger and heterosexual, I think this would more quickly drive equal representation in the corporate workforce (since a lot of men would have never showed up, or left, in response to a suitor) than only focusing on why women aren't in or leave the workforce which is also often in response to a suitor.
- draw_down 5y ago> They range from mentally ill homeless men who desperately need our help, to the I’m-doing-just-fine-thank-you-very-much, retired early, and former Silicon Valley coder. Yes sir. Going great so far, about 6 months in. Took that job and shoved it.
- legerdemain 5y ago"More" than what? "More" than at some point before? Actual title on Yahoo News: "7 ways men live without working in America." Another example of HN rigidly following rules to make strange, awkward edits to titles of posts.
