My first moments with BSD Unix as a college freshman were helped along by a group of four or five upperclassmen (juniors or seniors) who were at the computer center at the same odd hours as my friends and I. One of them created the Yggdrasil Linux distribution a couple of years later. Ironically, none of us had PCs to try it out. Those of us who had been able to afford a computer in college generally got a Macintosh. I couldn’t afford one, so I got a job instead.
