Not a parent, but the oldest of a large family. This is a fantastic way to view the formative teenage years.
> And that is all about trust.
And you touch on what I feel is the most important point in _any_ relationship you'd want to keep: trust.
My relationships between myself and my parents was radically different between those of some of my siblings and my parents purely on grounds of how trustworthy our parents deemed each of us.
Receiving such trust makes it much easier to have difficult conversations, make compromises with each other, and gives you room to air grievances in a productive way. If I were to travel back in time to relive my life, I'd prioritize fostering those bonds of trust throughout my family and I suspect we would could have been much more happy and close-knit had that occurred and we all had the groundwork for healthier coping and discourse.
