Like most futurism, there's a strong incentive in this kind of journalism to publish long-shot predictions - Dow 5000, that sort of thing. If you're right, you're a genius, and if you're wrong, you're just one more wrong prediction in a very large pile. Bad strategy IMO to make a list, though.
