This isn't just partisan nonsense, it is worse than that. Trump has encouraged people to take the vaccine. He was recently panned at one of his events for recommending it. Meanwhile, the MSNBC pundit cited in the top of this article pooh-poohed the vaccine when it was being promoted by Trump.
It isn't just partisan nonsense, it is a myopic obsession with a single former politician.

- chovybizzass 5y agoTrump could cure cancer and the left would still oppose it.
- db48x 5y agoYea, considering how much effort Trump put into associating himself with vaccine development, pushing special funding for it and pushing for rapid approvals, it’s really weird that anyone thinks that Trump is or was anti–vaccine.
- aww_dang 5y agoBlaming Trump for vaccine hesitancy is inaccurate and deceptive. Trust in media and government institutions is low. If media and government institutions want to be taken at face value, then they should take their stated intentions at face value. An honest reckoning would involve examining how they lost the public's trust and what they can do to regain it. Instead they lay blame, deflect responsibility, engage in partisanship and identity tribalism. This enables the current paradigm to continue via divide and conquer strategies. Either side of the divide forms a goal post. Both teams cry foul. The propagandists take their free-kick. Although it is divorced from reality, I don't find the narrative weird. Effective might be a more accurate characterization. If propaganda is necessary, then a need for effective propaganda follows. Therefore, a significant number of people must find these narratives credible. Otherwise they would not be effective. Propagandists would be sent "back to the drawing board".
