Then don't.
If you aren't willing to interact with people as humans, that doesn't give you the right to treat them as tools. The people who are interested in talking about some game mod don't owe you the ability to quickly look up information about it.
- xwdv 5y agoWhy would they delete a forum and force people to go to a discord if they aren’t willing to serve?
- chowells 5y agoRunning a forum sucks. Why would you do that when your community is better served by other tools?
- xwdv 5y agoSucks for admins but great for users. I guess they just want to pass on the suckage to the end user.
- LocalH 5y agoRunning a Discord of any size sucks too, to be fair. I run a small (<1000) Discord related to hacking of a video game engine, and even the amount of drama that my server has encountered is sometimes quite unnerving. I plan on expanding it with a forum and/or a wiki in the coming months, because Discord is unsuitable for long term preservation of content. I consider Discord a more modern version of IRC, in a practical sense. Great for real-time communication, bad for long-form content and long-term preservation.
