Almost all VPN ads on youtube are pretty much straight up lies and/or misrepresenting it.
For example, claims that the ISP can see your traffic. Well, so can the VPN provider. Along with that basically anything is encrupted anyways.
It also doesn't make you impossible to track and such.
The only real reason they have to exist is for accessing geoblocked content. And accessing stuff like company networks (Which the vpn providers that advertise don't help with anyways)
So, I literally see no reason to ever use such a VPN.
- Anunayj 5y agoThough VPNs are specially handy in high censorship countries where ISPs monitor and block TLS SNI, in some instances someone might trust a private company in a foreign nation more than their own ISP and country, or simply might want to access content blocked by their ISP. Honestly upcoming eSNI/ECH RFCs will fix most of these issues.
