That seems like a really counter-productive position to take if you are trying to hire software engineers. The market is currently very hot so if you are limiting yourself to only candidates who are in "desperate need of a new job" then you are probably going to have a lot of trouble finding people.
- Grustaf 5y agoI'm not trying to optimise hiring, I'm just pointing out that from the developers point of view it's not a big issue.
- lostdog 5y agoWe are going to have to agree to disagree here. Anything that eats a full month of my time is a big deal, and I expect companies to be more efficient with my time than this.
- Grustaf 5y agoFew large organizations are very efficient about anything related to HR or management. But I'm not sure where you're getting "one month" from.
- lostdog 5y agoIf all companies do this, then interviewing at 5 companies eats 5 weeks of time.
- Grustaf 5y agoPresumably the project is the last step, when they are basically just checking that you are as good as you say you are. Like checking references. At that point you should already be 90% certain to be hired, not 20%.
