I have a Kindle, and I use it from time to time, but generally I agree with the author.
My reasons?
First, for whatever reason -- I'm not dyslexic or anything -- reading is a significant expenditure of effort for me. So finishing a book, or being 2/3 of the way through makes me feel good. And seeing that bookmark two-thirds of the way through is part of my feeling of accomplishment, in a way that 66% is not.
Secondly, when I read it is usually non-fiction and is usually something I hope to come back to. So I do a lot of highlighting and notes writing. There is a special pleasure in being able to flip through a book with my own notes and highlighting and to be able to quickly find what I'm looking for is important to me.
