Java 8 is medieval. Java 17 is at least Enlightenment-era. At a prior employer, we ran a heavy-duty compute engine and a bunch of other services on Java 13 (don’t ask) without any issues. Stupid JDK tricks in dependencies were the hard part of migrating 8 to 13.
