Once upon a time (war time) the US had 94% top tax bracket[1]. Let that sink it. Obviously there's no WW2 right now, and that extreme level of confiscation is probably unwarranted. But it makes you think how far the US has strayed and how impossible any slightly more progressive tax brackets seem today.
