Because companies are willing to pay _any amount_ to get the right person for the job. CEOs are payed millions. Engineers can be payed anything from a minimum wage though to the same as the CEO. But yes, I don't understand why a company would not at least advertise a minimum of what they are willing to pay to get a candidate to apply. Perhaps they are happy with the candidates they are getting.
