Presenting that table without an applicable denominator is misleading. The N on the table is a count of adverse events, not of people or does. The reported events occurred at a rate of between ~5 and ~70 per million doses administered for the highlighted age groups. Higher than background risk? Yes. High risk? No.
- tommymachine 5y agoWhen compared with the risk profile of covid for these age groups, it tells a very different story than you are suggesting. For older groups the risk of covid hospitalization/death is much higher. For the younger, especially under 18, the risk in this table is much higher (than the risk for COVID complications). Also keep in mind this is just one vaccine complication of many, and that the complications reported in VAERS are incomplete.
