The perception partly comes about because putting the boot into the government is Australia's national sport. When Australians repeatedly rip into their government the Internet eventually starts to believe what they say. Ironically the fact that we do rip into our government is probably a sign the the fundamentals of Australian democracy are doing okay. Mind you, the Morrison government deserves every kick it gets, especially if it's a kick up the bum at the next Federal election.
