Russian Mobile App Dev Recruited Phones into a Secret Ad-Watching Robot Army
- Brittaeric 5y agoIt's really detailed information on how one can steal an app code, deploy it and then turn it into a money-making machine through an ad monetization model. It seems like the company has been doing it for a long time. It's so scary that how one can do this so easily without being caught.
- Evehyman 5y agoA report by OCCRP states that several accounts from Google Play Store have been banned due to malicious activities. The question arises here, why don’t the app owners took necessary legal action against them at the earliest possible? What was the reason?
- Simonowen 5y agoThere are a lot of comp0anies involved with Adeco for this “digital heist”. So how come the app owner know who to sue legally. It was an organized cybercrime and thank God, they got caught. Not to forget that it was Maxim Karpenko who exposed them and he got threatened in the counter back.
- Markshane 5y agoTheir tactic was refined. They keep on rebranding to prevent being caught. They worked as JustMoby and shifted their tactics. They were best at doing that (in a negative way). Well, in conclusion, they have managed to make billions through their smart strategy.
- Theofelix 5y agoIts high time for Google Play Store and Apple App Store to implement strict scrutiny. Adeco, JustMoby managed to publish at least 200 apps with more than 76 million downloads. Now just think, they have used malware to fake in-app ads and looted billions. Isn’t it a big question mark on these app store’s regulations?
- Markshane 5y agoThe best thing is they have been exposed now and there is nothing one can do to recover the loss. The legal battle is still in progress. Let's see what we see in the future now. Finger Crossed!
