Am I the only one who couldn't stand Catcher In The Rye? Who found himself completely unable to empathize with the character of Holden Caulfield -- a whiny teen

Am I the only one who couldn't stand Catcher In The Rye? Who found himself completely unable to empathize with the character of Holden Caulfield -- a whiny teenage loser who thinks (despite all evidence to the contrary) that he's special? I only read it once (I was probably 15 or so) but I couldn't relate to him then, and I don't think there's been any other stage in the intervening 13 years at which I could have related to him, either.
