PHP is still used by pubescent future billionaires and the now mid-career professionals that began their journey during the free market anomaly of 1995-2000 (an anomaly brought to you by The Architect of the Dystopia, a man worthy of an antagonist role on Dr. Who; that is, the ultimate responsible party for creating PPP/RAS.) PHP is also used by artisans from other genres that migrated to web tech later in life in search of (tech) "jobs". I would dare to add that, other than those who normally operate in technician-like capacities (including BPO roles), no serious software engineer would choose to initiate a new project in PHP. In PHP's defense though, the "language" was created to solve an actual purpose, which makes its existence 101% valid IMNSHO. That purpose tho, was a dude seeking to make it easier to update his online resume (bc ColdFusion cost bank during the economic nuclear winter that followed said market anomaly and LI didn't exist yet). Not knowing what to expect, but wanting to lay off hundreds of thousands of expensive American workers during that economic disaster (following the dot-com bubble), IBM adopted PHP for a short while and turned it into a "real" environment, training thousands of their BPO replacement workers to be used by it. At some point, Marky Mark and The Facebook Bunch made a compiler for PHP because they had trouble attracting workers during that era who were competent in other "languages". But, as the Industry began to refill with labor that knew there is no dash in mantissa ( https://www.leaseweb.com/labs/2013/06/the-php-floating-point-precision-is-wrong-by-default/ https://www.leaseweb.com/labs/2013/06/the-php-floating-point... ), PHP fell into an "everyday kind of socialist hell" (in the spirit of the "movement" by That Kid who grew up on the outskirts of the USSR and then formed an unholy alliance for bits of Hurd with that Sybok-like guy from MIT). PHP has been going sideways (="wasting millions of man hours on 'backwards compatibility issues' created for all major projects written in it") ever since. PHP should really come with its own theme song https://youtu.be/_KwA34pX6rg https://youtu.be/_KwA34pX6rg
