You aren't necessarily taking the standardized tests if you are homeschooled. E.g. in New York, they have statewide tests called Regents. Not all districts allow homeschoolers to take these tests. I'm not against homeschooling, my kids are homeschooled. But it's not a decision to take lightly or without thoroughly investigating the rules and regulations about it for your local jurisdiction.
