Towards the end of high school, I started a fairly profitable startup, and went on to do that for a few more years after in lieu of college. At the time, I really struggled with my parents desire to keep me in school and my own desire to drop out and get a GED. They won out. And actually, I’m glad they did. Even though my grades were very poor and I never did homework, I really do think I came out of high school better than I would have been with only a GED. Now, 6 years out of high school, I attend a community college part-time to work on a bachelors degree. Funny how I completely discounted higher education just a few years ago.
