- throwawaysea 5y agoCurious what the HN community feels about moderation and political effects. I don’t think anyone seriously contends that social media has no impact on politics. And if that’s the case, then aren’t acts of amplifying or censoring political messages via moderation equivalent to any other campaign spending? There is a concept of “in kind” donations/contributions, where a political campaign is supported via services/products/acts that aren’t just a monetary contribution. Shouldn’t social media and big tech companies be regulated by the same controls?
