Fear and Loathing in America (2001)
- redis_mlc 5y agoThe West is in three ideologial wars with the CCP and Islam (externally), and Marxism (internally), and none are going to voluntarily stop. Thanks to the Democratic/Marxist White House who plan to allow around 1 million Afghanis into the US, we will also face an internal Islamic war, similar to France, Germany and Sweden. Whether it starts with the immigrants or their children, it will come. Note that very few of those Afghanis are interpreters, and in fact we don't know who they are. The only thing slowing up their asylum is not paperwork or corona, but measles, which can be fatal to infants.
- omarfarooq 5y agoWritten by the Hunter S. Thompson, 9/12/01.
- C19is20 5y agoHard to read date format.
- barbarbar 5y agoI don't know who the author is. But to me it seems like he had a very clear picture of what the future would be like after that insane and devastating event. Fascinating.

If so, you might be familiar with Johnny Depp. In America, it is arguably the case that Depp raised his social standing by being best buddies with Thompson, not the other way round.

- anm89 5y agoHunter Thompson he's had several blockbuster movies made portraying him mostly based off of his own work
- gradschoolfail 5y agoIncluding Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, on which TFA bases its title..
- FranksTV 5y agoFear and Loathing wasn't portraying him, technically. The story is about Raoul Duke, who is his alter-ego. Of course the two characters are very similar in a lot of ways, but it's not technically autobiographical.
- pimeys 5y agoOne of the most (in)famous american journalist, famous for inventing gonzo journalism, focusing on the writer themselves diving into situations and writing about it. His political texts are excellent and I highly recommend the book Fear and Loathing on The Campaign Trail '72 for a good analysis on the McGovern vs. Nixon campaign.
- notsureaboutpg 5y agoThis kind of makes me feel that the level of public writers / journalists has severely declined in the West...
- thaw13579 5y agoAs an odd aside, the fact that they retained the original web design brought me back to 2001 in a way that I wouldn’t have expected.
