Berlin's public transport is pretty dirty though. If I had to live in Berlin, I'd get a car, even if it takes more time. I realize everyone has a different threshold for what they consider dirty, and people voluntarily living in Berlin seem to have a much higher threshold than me, but yeah, I'd prefer some checks in exchange for clean & undamaged public transport.
