Oil-Rich Norway Goes to Polls with Climate on the Agenda
- timonoko 5y agoI experienced the time before oil in Norway. Foremost: bad roads. No paved roads much North of Tromsø. Everything moved on boats, many of which wind-powered. That was most environmental. But no returning back, everybody must have Tesla now. However most communities are still built to be row-boat operated. New roadways are squiggly, connected with hundreds of oil-operated ferryboats.
- punnerud 5y agoA lot of the ferryboats is now electric, and Oslo just announced that all busses will be electric before 2023 after testing several different technologies the last years.
- beebeepka 5y agoThe recent Norway story is fascinating and inspiring. But the cynic in me can't help but wonder why hasn't the country been invaded for its resources. Plenty of poor countries have natural resources that are being exploited to death by external actors, yet there are unicorns like Norway that nobody seems to touch. I really don't get it
- yann2 5y agoToo cold. The chimp troupe cant really fight in those temperatures for more than 10 minutes a day. An eskimo army is the way to go but they are busy.
