Like I said, view them as an array with 0 or 1 element and do it just like for arrays. There are only three possibilities: [] => [] [[]] => [] [[a]] => [

Like I said, view them as an array with 0 or 1 element and do it just like for arrays. There are only three possibilities:
[] => []
[[]] => []
[[a]] => [a]
