When I first saw keyhole I thought they meant peephole as in the fish eye lens. Next paper perhaps! (edit: this is still amazing of course!)

- blitzar 5y agoI thought keyhole satellite. Was disapointed to read they cant see into closed rooms from space ... yet
- hkt 5y ago..disappointed? Really?
- blitzar 5y agoAbsolutely, I want to hear about the technological breakthrough that made it possible. Control of spacetime, quantum something, just anything cool. Kneeling down and peeping through the keyhole was not the answer that I expected when I clicked through.
- hkt 5y agoFair enough. I suppose I was surprised because I wish there were some things that were just impractical to do. Stuff like this gives me the creeps: https://web.wpi.edu/Pubs/E-project/Available/E-project-042507-082349/unrestricted/Laser_Audio_Bug.pdf https://web.wpi.edu/Pubs/E-project/Available/E-project-04250... Still, I guess the science is interesting. I'd like it more if it was about eg, noninvasive diagnostic procedures rather than spying.
- blitzar 5y agoAll agreed - the line between interesting science and creepy use of said interesting science is very fine. That said I have long given up being outraged that carrying around a tracking device makes it possible to be tracked.
